We offer garage door spring repair & replacement. We replace broken torsion springs and extension springs on residential and commercial rolling steel, and one-piece curtain doors among many others.
Springs should never be adjusted or repaired by individuals who are not properly trained to perform this task and may not have the proper tools. Continuing to operate your door with a broken spring is very dangerous and can cause additional damage to the garage door and electric opener systems.
There are two types of garage door springs, torsion and extension springs.
They have the same function but work differently.
The garage door Torsion spring tightens when the door is closed, and unwinds on opening. This winding and unwinding of the torsion spring aids in opening and closing the garage door. When the spring releases its tension as the door is opened, the stored energy in the spring assists with lifting the weight of the door. Torsion springs evenly distribute your garage door’s weight throughout the unit. This is balancing. Some doors have more than one torsion spring.
The number of springs is determined by the weight it carries and the amount of doors you have.
Where extension springs is a system of pulleys and counterbalance cables. They run from the bottom brackets through the pulleys. When your garage door is opened, your extension springs contract, lifting the door as the tension is released.
